In each State and Territory there is a Carers Association working to bring the needs, views and concerns of carers to the attention of the community as a whole including government, policy makers, health professionals and service providers.

The Associations all operate a Commonwealth Carer Resource Centre and carry out carer advocacy as well as supporting carers with counselling, support groups and education and training activities.

Northern Territory

Children's Inclusion Support Services (CISS)

CISS works to help children with additional needs access and participate in Commonwealth funded children’s services. These services include Long Day Care, Vacation Care, Outside School Hours Care, Family Day Care, Occasional Care, and Multifunctional Aboriginal Children’s Services. CISS can support children’s services by providing: funding for an additional worker to boost staff ratio, training for child care staff, resources and equipment specific to a child’s needs and information about programming and inclusive practices for children with additional needs. No referral required.
